Oceanic Eddy Detection and Analysis
Abstract
Oceanic eddies are ubiquitous phenomena in ocean, which play important in the oceanic circulation, climate change and oceanic biochemical processes. This talk will discuss a few the oceanic eddy detection schemes both for the Eulerian and Lagrangian data from satellite remote sensing and numerical modeling. It will be also covered in the talk that the application of the eddy data set derived for eddy dynamic analysis, the eddy-induced heat, freshwater and mass transport, chlorophyll distribution and so on. The submesoscale processes associated with mesoscale eddies will be discussed.
